Work on 2010 electronic applications is well underway, and many of you have submitted your documents to us and completed your participation forms. If you want your application to be available online on September 1, time is running out! September 1 is the most popular date for applications to become available, so please get your materials to your regional support team right away.
Remember, we need at least six to eight weeks to process an application once we receive all of your application documents and participation form.
Remember also that you now have some new options for your e-apps:
As usual, a member of your regional support team will be sending you a data-flow sheet that will outline the data flow from your electronic application to ACES² or ADMIT-M. This flow sheet will allow you to choose specific fields you would like to require, specify a maximum field length, and create drop-down fields. Your regional support team will be able to advise you on how to best utilize these new options. Don't hesitate to contact us—we are happy to guide you through the process.
"Primary" is no longer a designation used for Recruit Events. Instead, you can now view and report on the "First" and "Most Recent" events attended. To ensure that events are shown in the proper chronological sequence, remember to enter the Recruit Event Date when you associate a recruit event with a prospect record.

Many schools have expressed an interest in going paperless. Reasons cited include convenience (eliminating the need to track and transport bulky files), increased speed and efficiency, and a more environmentally friendly approach that significantly reduces paper consumption.
Look for a paperless file-processing module in ACES² during our release planned for mid-September 2009. We are streamlining the administration of the review process to make it easy for you to assign (or reassign) applicants to reviewers, and to track the progress of applicants throughout the review cycle. The paperless enhancements will coexist with your traditional file-review options, so your school can choose whether—or how soon—to take advantage of this new feature.
New functionality will help you to prescreen applicants based on criteria such as whether their applications are complete or if the applicant has already been assigned to a reviewer. We are adding a reviewer-administration area so you can use attributes, such as LSAT scores and GPAs, to assign applicants to individual reviewers or to a review committee. Within this section, you can also reassign applicants from one reviewer to a different reviewer, send e-mail notifications to reviewers, and track the progress of applicant reviews.
Your reviewers will experience intuitive navigation and functionality, along with fast access to centrally located information, to support paperless processing. If your school conducts applicant reviews by committees, each member will be able to submit an individual review.
You will be notified whenever Credential Assembly Services (LSDAS) updates are available for applicants whose records are being reviewed, so you can inform your reviewers. Another time-saving enhancement will allow you to upload multiple electronic documents for an applicant.
We are building greater flexibility into archiving, so you can choose whether to save reviewer information or applicant notes, or both. Plus, one-click printing will enable you to easily print documents for groups of applicants to fulfill record-keeping requirements.
For a law school's perspective on going paperless, see "Paperless: A Painless Process" in the March newsletter.

The Information Services Division Advisory Group (ISDAG) advises LSAC in the development and enhancement of electronic services, including ACES² and electronic applications. The group consists of volunteers from member schools across the country—IT professionals, admission professionals, and a liaison from the Services and Programs committee. This group works directly with senior members of the LSAC Information Services Division (ISD) and advises us on the functionality, design, and usability of our technology-based services. Members also help prioritize changes and enhancements to these services, and they advise us on technology use within law schools. ISDAG members will also serve as the planning group for the Electronic Service Conference (ESCon) to be held in Las Vegas on April 14–16, 2010.
The members of ISDAG for 2009–2010 are listed below. Please contact any of them with concerns or ideas about LSAC electronic services and ESCon 2010, or both.
